What Is Clipped (Cut-Flower) Sheer Jacquard Fabric? A B2B Buyer’s Guide

2026-10-20

Clipped sheer — also called cut-flower or cut-pile jacquard — is one of the most requested curtain fabrics for hotels, showrooms and residential projects. This guide explains how it is made, what to specify when you order, and where it outperforms printed or embroidered alternatives.

How clipped sheer is woven

Clipped sheer is woven on electronic jacquard looms in one integrated step. The loom weaves a semi-transparent plain ground together with raised pile loops, and those loops are then trimmed (clipped) to a uniform height. The result is a soft, embossed floral or geometric pattern that sits on a see-through background — pattern and ground belong to the same fabric, not a print on top of it.

Because the pattern is structural, it reads identically on both sides of the fabric, will not peel or fade like a surface print, and catches light the way velvet does while keeping the airflow and drape of a sheer.

Typical specifications at Huaming

  • Composition: polyester or linen-blend sheer grounds (for example 8% linen / 92% polyester), produced on an OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 Class I certified mill (certificate SH015 264621).
  • Weight: sheers are lightweight, commonly around 80 gsm; exact weight depends on the specific model.
  • Width: 290–300 cm finished — wide enough to hang full-height panels without vertical seams.
  • Pattern repeat: digital jacquard designs allow custom repeat; classic repeats are typically 50–80 cm.

Why buyers choose it

Hotels and contract projects specify clipped sheer because it diffuses daylight, preserves views, and hides dust between cleanings far better than flat voile. At the same time, one-piece woven construction survives repeated commercial laundering better than embroidery, whose threads sit on the surface and loosen over time.

Specifying clipped sheer for an order

When you request a quotation, send: model number (or a photo / physical sample), composition, finished width, quantity per color, and the target market. Our current jacquard loom library covers thousands of registered patterns; if none matches, OEM/ODM development with your own design file is standard practice.

MOQ and sampling

For in-stock clipped sheers you can order from 1 meter — useful for sampling, mock-ups and small made-to-measure runs. For made-to-order colors and new patterns the standard MOQ is 600 meters per color, with new-design sampling in 7–10 days.
